What is an ontology? How is it relevant to research?

The Word Ontology originates from the Greek words "ontos" means being and ‘logos meaning of "study" Ontology is a belive about the reality it does not matter it's a single reality or a no single reality is Ontology. There are two types of Ontology Realism and Relativism.

 Realism

Realism is one truth that exists and the truth does not change, Realism believes that truth can be measured by using objective measurements. Once you found out what truth is you can generalize it to other situations as well. 
Relativism.
The Opposite side of the Realism is relativism such as
Multiple reality  exists
Shape of context
Changes and truth evolves
May use in similar contexts

In nutshell, Ontology is the structure for point out shareable and reclaimable information across a domain.




What is epistemology? How is it relevant to research?

According to the Standford Encyclopedia of philosophy, epistemology is a greek word of a combination of "epistene" and "logos" and epistemology is a study of knowledge.  when it comes to the research Epistemology is linked with the way of finding information to gain knowledge. 



What is the connection between ontology and epistemology in a research context?
