Research Methods Week 2

Is there a difference between ‘knowing’ something and ‘having knowledge’ of something?

Knowing

Knowing to mean that you know, have an idea about something and but you do to have a depth understanding
For instance, I know the laptop has the same component as in the desktop PC but I don't know how to assemble or disassemble it.

Knowledge

Knowledge is that you have a good idea with the depth knowledge
For example, I know what inside a desktop PC and I know how to assemble or disassemble it properly that's my knowledge

So there is a clear difference between Knowing and Knowledge

What is ‘truth’?

Truth is that the reality we face and it can defer from person to person

What do we really mean when we say something is ‘true’?

When we are saying true that means it has been an honest and your subconscious know whether you told the truth or lie

Is there a difference between knowing something is ‘true’ and believing that something is ‘true’?

Knowing something true means you have evidence to prove your idea or you have facts. But, believe something true means you will believe but you do not have evidence to prove

What is the difference between subjective and objective ‘truth’?

Subjective truth

It mainly depends on the view of a person or feeling of a personal opinion and it's based on our input or our sense.

Objective truth

Easy way explain Objective truth is like this, When we are crossing a road bus is coming towards us, We can thing that bus as Cat, Dog or Egg anything that we like but, the Objective truth is it's a Bus and if we did not care about it we will get hurt.

What is a ‘fact’ and can ‘facts’ change?

A fact means what your five senses can feel apart from that all the other things are the story.
for instance, I'm teaching in a class and suddenly a bunch of students are leaving the classroom and I can not figure out what is the reason is, however, I will continue teaching my class but I feel that so rude, annoying because my five sens I saw (eyes) that they leave the room I heard that they close the door for my (ears).  I feel so bad and for the rest of the class. I will think about it and it will affect other remaining students as well. but, if I did not care about them then I did not think abut there leaving it won't affect me so this whole thing is a story.

How do we discover if something is ‘true’ or not?

Truth it depends on evidence if someone can say Apple is Blue but, we all know that Apple would be RED or GREEN because it has the evidence and we have seen those of our own eyes. so its the truth and we know that that person is not saying the truth.

We do not see things as they are but as we are” Anais Nin. What does this mean

This we are facing most of the time in life what seeing a thing as I'm Vs as they really are For example some people can say that Monalisa's picture is laughing and some people can say she is Sad. So it differs We do not see things as they are but as we are.

Reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistent one” (Einstein) What does this mean?

That means the things that we see are an illusion and the reality is what you understand  what you see and there is no connection between truth.

Is there a difference between ‘true’ and ‘valid’? Explain?

Truth is that the reality we face and it can defer from person to pers and Valid mean there should be evidence or acceptances to show, for instance, Every country has money and they have their own valid inside the country. If I try to you Sri Lankan currency in New Zealand there won't be validity for the money because I have to convert it to New Zealand dollars.
